NFDS is an RYA Sailability Centre of Excellence for the Southern Region
What is the award for?
The award recognises the continuous hard work and efforts by the site in contributing to disabled sailing. To receive the award each centre must meet a variety of criteria including:
- most importantly, the accessibility of the club
- being able to provide sailing to 9 or more categories of disability
- the site being located at an RYA recognised training centre.
What do we receive?
Thanks to the funding from the National Sports Foundation, we receive the RYA Sailability Centre of Excellence status and a grant.
What does this mean to NFDS?
It means we provide examples of good practice within disabled sailing; RYA Sailability refers potential new sailors to us; other new or existing clubs visit us to see how things happen in practice.
